(Alliance News) - Leonardo Spa announced on Thursday that it has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Telespazio--a joint venture between Leonardo and Thales--and Intuitive Machines to develop interoperable infrastructure and provide communication and navigation services for lunar exploration.

The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration between the companies to promote and enhance interoperability between their respective infrastructures: the European lunar communication and navigation system, developed by Telespazio as part of the European Space Agency's Moonlight program, and Intuitive Machines' Space Data Network, developed within NASA's Near Space Network Services program.

The goal is to improve the capability of these new networks to deliver advanced and traceable services and to contribute to the definition of international standards for lunar communications.

Leonardo's shares were up 0.1% at EUR48.71 per share.
