Lufthansa intends to exercise its option for a full takeover of the Italian carrier ITA Airways in June. Given the airline's track record, Lufthansa has decided to exercise the option to acquire a further 49 percent stake this June, Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr stated on Tuesday at the annual general meeting in Frankfurt. Lufthansa currently holds 41 percent of the former Italian state-owned airline, while 10 percent remains with the Italian state. 'As a result, ITA will be fully integrated into the Lufthansa Group both organizationally and financially starting in 2027', Spohr added.
