Several employees were injured in an incident involving a Lufthansa Boeing 787 at Frankfurt Airport. According to the airline, the nose landing gear suddenly collapsed at a parking position at the terminal on Thursday around 12:45 p.m. As a result, the fuselage of the aircraft was partially resting on the apron. According to a Reuters photographer, several emergency vehicles were deployed around the aircraft.

At the time of the incident, crew and ground staff were on board, according to company information; passengers had not yet boarded. Two Lufthansa cabin crew members and other employees from service companies sustained minor injuries and were taken to a hospital for medical treatment. 'All other members of the 13-person Lufthansa crew were cared for and their journey home was organized,' the statement continued.

The wide-body jet was originally scheduled to fly to Los Angeles as flight LH450. The exact cause is currently being investigated, Lufthansa added. Experts are on site and inspecting the aircraft. Following clearance from the authorities, the Boeing 787 is expected to be moved to a maintenance hangar later in the evening. The relatively fuel-efficient 787 is a recent addition to the Lufthansa fleet. The group is gradually replacing older jets with this model. A Boeing spokesperson said the aircraft manufacturer was informed of the incident and is supporting its customer.
