LVMH appointed a new chief of its beauty division and said the eldest son of founder and chief executive Bernard Arnault will join the group's executive committee, marking the latest round of management shakeups at the top of the luxury-goods industry.

The French conglomerate, luxury's largest player and one of Europe's highest-valued companies, said Monday that Veronique Courtois will take charge of the beauty division. The division, which houses perfume and cosmetics brands like Givenchy and Rihanna's Fenty, last year made sales of around 8.2 billion euros ($9.69 billion), some 10% of the group's total intake.

Courtois currently leads Parfums Christian Dior, one of the division's key brands. She will join LVMH's executive committee, where she will be joined by Antoine Arnault, one of several of Bernard Arnault's children to serve in leadership positions across the group's brands. He is currently CEO of the holding company that controls LVMH.

Current beauty boss Stephane Rinderknech will meanwhile leave the group, LVMH said.

LVMH managing director Stephane Bianchi said Courtois and Antoine Arnault have "consistently demonstrated our Group's values and propelled its ambitious development through their impactful achievements."

"They will be instrumental in shaping our strategic direction," Bianchi said.
