Matrix Service Company announced that Shawn P. Payne will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer when John R. Hewitt, Chief Executive Officer, steps down from his roles effective June 30, 2026. As part of the Company?s transformation, Mr. Payne was recently named President of Engineering & Construction for Matrix Service Company. He previously served as President, Matrix Service Inc., and before that, he served in other leadership roles for Matrix Service including as Senior Vice President, Operations, Senior Vice President of Finance and Business Services, and Vice President of Business Services.
Mr. Payne joined the Company in 2012 as the Division Manager in Tucson, AZ, leading the Company?s entry into the mining and minerals business. Prior to joining Matrix, Mr. Payne held leadership roles in operations, finance and project controls with Aker Solutions/Kvaerner, and Jacobs.
Matrix Service Company, through its subsidiaries, is an industrial engineering, construction, and maintenance contractor. Its segments include Storage and Terminal Solutions, Utility and Power Infrastructure and Process and Industrial Facilities. The Storage and Terminal Solutions includes engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction services related to cryogenic and other specialty tanks and terminals for liquefied natural gas (LNG), natural gas liquids, hydrogen, ammonia, propane, butane, liquid nitrogen/liquid oxygen and liquid petroleum. The Utility and Power Infrastructure includes engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction services to support growing demand for LNG utility peak shaving facilities. The Process and Industrial Facilities includes plant maintenance, repair, and turnarounds in the downstream and midstream markets for energy clients, including refining and processing of crude oil, fractionating and marketing of natural gas and natural gas liquids.
