BELÉM (dpa-AFX) - According to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU), the chip crisis caused by missing deliveries from manufacturer Nexperia should soon be over. "The way now seems to be open for deliveries to resume," Merz said on the sidelines of a climate summit in Belém, Brazil. He said he had previously discussed the issue again with Dutch Acting Prime Minister Dick Schoof. "We have also been in contact with each other over the last few days and we have also asked our foreign ministers to talk at the foreign minister level, including with the People's Republic of China," Merz added.
Nexperia is experiencing supply problems after the Dutch government took control of the company, which is owned by a Chinese parent company. China then stopped exporting Nexperia products such as chips for the automotive industry./kf/DP/stk
