Piazza Affari began the day with a slight uptick, in line with other European stock markets, following strong gains accumulated during a week packed with macroeconomic data and key central bank meetings. Yesterday, the ECB confirmed its interest rates and revised its economic forecasts for the region upward.
Around 9:30 a.m., the Ftse Mib index was up by 0.25%.
Banks remained little changed, with the exception of MPS, which stood out with a 1% gain.
TELECOM ITALIA rose by about 2%. Intermonte cited international rumors regarding the fate of Altice and consolidation in the French sector, which could lead Iliad to scale back in Italy and speed up a deal with Wind 3. All of this could indirectly benefit Tim by reducing the number of competitors in the domestic market.
SAIPEM was lively (+1.5%) after the third extension of an offshore drilling contract in Norway, while AVIO gained 1.3% following two new launch service agreements for Vega C.
On the downside were UNICREDIT, AMPLIFON, and CAMPARI.
