(Alliance News) - The first test for the new governance of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena will be the board meeting scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, where Cesare Bisoni is the frontrunner for the chairmanship, according to Il Sole 24 Ore.

The race for the vice-presidencies remains open, with roles potentially assigned to Corrado Passera and Flavia Mazzarella to ensure balance between the slates, while observers await Fabrizio Palermo's next moves.

CEO Lovaglio dismissed any controversy, calling for constructive collaboration: "The new board is highly qualified and will allow us to learn new things by working together." The banker ruled out any spirit of retaliation, reiterating that the priority is to "implement an innovative project that creates value for all stakeholders."

The industrial plan and the integration with Mediobanca, monitored by the ECB, remain at the heart of the agenda. Lovaglio expressed gratitude toward Tortora, emphasizing the urgency of "keeping promises and the duty to complete the plan."

Regarding the stake in Generali, the stance remains unchanged: the 13% holding is considered a "nice to have" asset for the group. "I feel confident in confirming this; that is the objective," Lovaglio concluded, reaffirming the solidity of the strategy.
