Cable manufacturer NKT has signed a final agreement to deliver a 525 kV HVDC cable system for Eastern Green Link 3, a joint venture between National Grid and SSEN Transmission. The order value exceeds €2.2 billion and represents the company's largest individual cable project to date, according to a press release.
NKT announced on September 15, 2025, that the company had been selected as the preferred supplier for the project, and a contract has now been signed.
The project covers approximately 680 kilometers of land and subsea cable with a capacity of up to 2 GW. Commissioning is expected by the end of 2033. The order has been added to the high-voltage project order book.
NKT A/S specializes in the manufacture and marketing of electrical cables for onshore and offshore installations. Net sales break down by activity as follows:
- sale of high voltage power cables (54.2%): for onshore and offshore installations;
- sale of medium and low voltage power cables and building wires (39.7%);
- sale of services and accessories (6.1%).
At the end of 2025, the group had 13 production sites worldwide.
Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: Denmark (3.5%), Germany (28.6%), the United Kingdom (17.6%), the United States (9.9%), Poland (8.1%), France (5.7%), Sweden (4.8%), Norway (4.6%), the Netherlands (2.5%), Czech Republic (2%), Portugal (0.4%) and other (12.3%).
