Power Grid Corporation of India Limited announced that Vamsi Rama Mohan Burra has taken charge as Chairman of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID). Prior to this appointment, he served as Director (Projects) at POWERGRID, bringing over three decades of experience in power transmission and telecom sectors. An engineering graduate with advanced qualifications in project management and business administration from Management Development Institute, Burra has also completed leadership programmes at Indian School of Business and the Harvard Manage Mentor programme.
A member of POWERGRIDs first batch of Executive Trainees in 1993, he has held key roles across projects, procurement, regulatory affairs, asset management, and telecom, contributing to strategic and operational growth. Burra played a pivotal role in establishing the companys regulatory framework and driving its participation in competitive bidding in the power transmission sector. As former CEO of Powergrid Teleservices Limited, he led expansion in telecom operations and initiated the companys first data centre project.
His leadership has been marked by a strong focus on digitalisation and operational efficiency, with reforms in project execution and monitoring enhancing transparency and delivery outcomes. The appointment underscores continuity in leadership as POWERGRID advances its infrastructure expansion and digital transformation agenda.
