DÜSSELDORF (dpa-AFX) - "Handelsblatt" on the VW crisis:

"Two years ago, 'The Economist' posed a provocative question: What would actually happen if Germany stopped building cars? Don't worry: it is unlikely to be quite that dramatic. Germany will continue to build cars - but presumably fewer and differently than before. (.) Volkswagen is still the second-largest carmaker in the world. However, it is entirely conceivable that in the coming years, a Chinese manufacturer like BYD will wedge itself between Toyota and Volkswagen. VW would then only be number three. That would not be the end of German carmakers. But it would be the end of an era. And at least this end is not completely unrealistic. In the future, it will matter less who sells the most cars. The decisive factor will be who still reliably earns money with their business."/yyzz/DP/stw
