Feb 27 (Reuters) - Belgian telecom provider Proximus will cut 1,200 jobs by 2030 due to AI efficiency measures, equivalent to 15% of its workforce, CEO Stijn Bijnens said during a presentation to investors on Friday,.
The company will also look to reduce external workforce costs by 25 million euros by 2028, he said.

Proximus SA is the leading telecommunications operator in Belgium. Net sales (including intragroup) break down by activity as follows:
- telecommunication services to individuals (39.6%): fixed telephony (773,000 installed lines at the end of 2025), mobile telephony (3.5 million prepaid and postpaid cards distributed), Internet access services (1.8 million subscribers), convergent services (1.2 million subscribers), etc. At the end of 2025, the Group had more than 2.8 million individual customers in Belgium;
- telecommunication services to enterprises (34.8%): fixed telephony (458,000 lines at the end of 2025), mobile telephony (1.8 million post-paid cards distributed), Internet access services and data transmission (445,000 subscribers). At the end of 2025, the Group had around 450,000 business customers in Belgium. Proximus SA also sells wholesale communication minutes to other operators located in Belgium;
- international services (24.9%; Proximus Global): telecommunications, authentication and digital identity services, and omni-channel services for businesses and international operators;
- other (1%).
Belgium accounts for 75.4% of net sales.
