Private equity firm EQT is exploring a potential sale of SUSE in a deal that could value the open-source software company at up to $6 billion, according to sources speaking to Reuters.

EQT has reportedly hired investment bank Arma Partners to gauge interest among other private equity players. No final decision has been made, and the process is said to be in its early stages.

EQT took SUSE private in 2023 at a valuation of approximately $3 billion. A sale at around $6 billion would represent a near doubling of its value in roughly two and a half years.

SUSE generates approximately $800 million in revenue with an EBITDA exceeding $250 million.
