Arms maker Rheinmetall said it is teaming up with satellite company OHB to form a military-satellite joint venture aimed at serving the German armed forces.
Rheinmetall said Thursday that the new business was established to assume responsibility for a project to build a military-satellite communications system.
The companies received approval for the joint venture from German antitrust regulators earlier this year, Rheinmetall said.
OHB's Dennis Winkelmann and Rheinmetall's Alexander Beyer will be the managing directors of the joint venture, Rheinmetall added.
