FRANKFURT/NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) - SAP shares gave up their Friday gains at the start of the week. In the MDax, Teamviewer plummeted to a record low. Meanwhile, on Wall Street and Nasdaq, the downward trend for US software and cybersecurity stocks continued with the market opening. Market observers pointed to OpenAI rival Anthropic, which had unveiled a security tool for its AI model Claude ahead of the weekend.

SAP dropped 3.6 percent to €167.65, making it the DAX's biggest loser. In the MDax of mid-cap companies, Teamviewer fell 5.6 percent to €4.58. In the US, Zscaler slid 6.5 percent to its lowest level since autumn 2023. Salesforce and Oracle both lost just over 4 percent. Cloudflare extended its Friday decline with a further 2.5 percent loss. Palo Alto Networks slipped by 2 percent.

According to a market participant, Anthropic's new tool scans codebases for security vulnerabilities and suggests targeted software patches for manual review. This is now also weighing on software and cybersecurity stocks in Europe, as well as continuing to impact their US counterparts./ck/jha/
