FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) - Following an incident involving a Dreamliner at Frankfurt Airport, several employees from Lufthansa and partner companies have been hospitalized. They were on board when the nose gear of the Boeing 787-9 unexpectedly collapsed.

According to a Lufthansa spokesperson, 13 crew members were on board, along with an undisclosed number of other employees. The teams were in the process of preparing the aircraft before passenger boarding.

'Two Lufthansa cabin crew members and additional employees from service providers were taken to a hospital for medical treatment,' the spokesperson said. He provided no details regarding the severity of the injuries or the total number of other injured parties.

Flight to Los Angeles was scheduled

The aircraft was stationed at gate A15 and was being prepared for flight LH450 to Los Angeles. According to the report, only employees were on board at the time of the incident; passengers had not yet boarded.

The cause of the incident is currently under investigation. Once cleared by the authorities, the Boeing 787 is expected to be moved to a maintenance hangar later this evening. Further inspections will take place there before the aircraft undergoes repairs. Lufthansa currently operates 17 Dreamliners in its fleet./sat/DP/he
