In Italy, energy network operators, including Snam and Terna, will invest approximately 27 billion euros over the three-year period 2026-2028, according to a study conducted by the research and consulting firm Agici, together with Accenture and Intesa Sanpaolo, Imi Cib division.

Companies managing the networks have emerged as the most dynamic group among all Italian energy firms in 2025, with a 21% increase in investments compared to 2024, reaching nearly 8 billion euros.

Multi-utilities, including A2A and ACEA, recorded a 14% decline in investments in 2025, according to the Agici study, which expects capital expenditures of approximately 18 billion euros during the 2026-2028 period.

For energy groups, which include among others Enel and Edison, total investments in 2025 amount to about 7.8 billion euros, up 16% compared to 2024.

These resources have been allocated by energy groups mainly to networks, the development of renewable sources, and storage systems, according to Agici, which analyzed the companies' industrial plans.

Looking ahead to 2026-2028, energy groups are planning investments of around 25.1 billion euros.
