SoftBank Corp. said a wholly owned unit agreed to work with Intel on next-generation memory technology.

The Japanese telecom company said Tuesday that wholly owned unit Saimemory would work on research and development jointly with the U.S. company with the aim of commercialization in the fiscal year starting April 2029.

SoftBank Corp. said the unit and Intel will work together to realize high-capacity data processing and reduced power consumption in data centers that require the training and inference of large-scale artificial-intelligence models.
