Standard Chartered named Peter Burrill as its new interim group chief financial officer, succeeding Diego De Giorgi after a two-year tenure.

Burrill, currently group head of central finance and deputy chief financial officer at Standard Chartered Bank, will be based in London, the bank said in an exchange filing Tuesday. An announcement on the permanent appointment of group CFO will be made in due course.

"Under his interim stewardship, we remain well-positioned to capitalize on the strategic focus and momentum of our business," Group Chief Executive Bill Winters said.

Giorgi will step down as executive director and group CFO, effective immediately, to pursue an external opportunity, the bank said.
