(Alliance News) - A meeting between Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa and the government could take place in early May, ahead of the presentation of the industrial plan on May 21, Milano Finanza reported on Tuesday.
Minister Adolfo Urso is a likely interlocutor, although no official dates have been set.
Stellantis clarified that while no meeting is scheduled specifically to preview the plan, communications with the executive branch remain frequent.
At the heart of the discussions is the future of Italian plants, particularly Cassino, which is facing significant headwinds: first-quarter production fell to 2,916 units, a 37% year-on-year decline. Delays related to the revision of Alfa Romeo models, which will now include hybrid versions alongside electric ones, are weighing on performance.
Meanwhile, speculation is growing regarding potential partnerships with Chinese groups, such as Dongfeng or Leapmotor, to saturate European production capacity.
The government remains receptive: "We are open to foreign investors," Urso stated, signaling a willingness to consider alternative solutions to protect employment and output.
Within the framework of the European reorganization - which includes the conversion of the Poissy plant in France by 2028 - Filosa aims to maintain car production at all Italian sites. However, the specific volumes and partnerships involved remain to be clarified. This issue is expected to be the focal point of the upcoming dialogue with the government.
