(Alliance News) - Stellantis has taken a stake in the UK-based Wayve, joining Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, and Uber in a USD1.2 billion funding round that values the startup at USD8.6 billion, according to Milano Finanza on Thursday.

This brings the Series D round to USD1.5 billion, while total funds raised now reach USD2.8 billion. Other investors include Nvidia and Microsoft.

Wayve aims to launch its "AI Driver" software in 2027 and to start a robotaxi service in London with Uber in 2026, with plans to expand to ten cities. The startup is already collaborating with Nissan, Mercedes, and Stellantis on solutions for both consumers and fleets, MF reports.

"The embodied-AI approach and end-to-end architecture represent a significant innovation in autonomous driving," said Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa, highlighting the alignment with the group's strategy and the potential for collaboration.
