(Alliance News) : Stellantis NV announced Thursday that it has reached a new milestone in its partnership with Factorial Inc. regarding solid-state battery development. For the first time in North America, the automaker has integrated Factorial Electrolyte System Technology (FEST) cells into an experimental vehicle, a Dodge Charger Daytona built on the STLA Large platform.

The two companies have also launched a road-testing program to verify performance, safety, and reliability under real-world conditions.

This project represents the first vehicle in the previously announced multi-phase development program and marks the inaugural integration of solid-state cells into a Stellantis vehicle.

In 2025, Stellantis and Factorial had already validated FEST cells featuring an energy density of 375 Wh/kg, with the capability to charge from 15% to 90% in 18 minutes.

To facilitate the cell integration, Stellantis developed and patented a new mechanical architecture for the battery pack, while also adapting control systems and pack design to meet automotive requirements for safety, durability, and performance.

Ongoing tests will serve to refine battery behavior across various driving and charging scenarios.

According to Stellantis, the technology could offer greater range, faster charging times, and lower costs. Factorial believes the project represents a significant step toward the industrialization of solid-state batteries and their future large-scale application in the automotive sector.

Stellantis shares are down 0.9% at €5.719 per share.
