Südzucker is anticipating profit growth following a strong start to the third quarter of its 2025/26 fiscal year.
The Mannheim-based sugar producer forecasted on Tuesday a significant improvement in both earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) and operating profit compared to the previous year. A year ago, Südzucker reported EBITDA of EUR82 million and an operating loss of EUR33 million. At the same time, the company reaffirmed its guidance for the 2025/26 fiscal year, which had been lowered last August. However, it cautioned that "the economic and financial impacts of the current geopolitical and global economic situation on future business performance remain difficult to assess."
According to current forecasts for the full year 2025/26 (ending in February), revenue is expected to range between EUR8.3 and EUR8.7 billion (previous year: EUR9.7 billion), while EBITDA is projected between EUR470 and EUR570 million (EUR724 million in the previous year). Operating profit is expected to fall to between EUR100 and EUR200 million (EUR350 million last year). Recently, Südzucker had complained about falling prices in its core sugar business.
