Telefónica's board of directors has approved the appointment of Antonio Ledesma as the new CEO of Telxius with effect from 1 March.
Ledesma, CFO of Telxius since 2016, has a degree in Economics from the University of Salamanca and an MBA from IESE Business School. He began his career 28 years ago in investment banking at J.P. Morgan and has been linked to Telefónica since 2002 in the role of Director of Corporate Development and as head of the CEO office of Telefónica Europe, among other executive functions throughout these years.
Antonio Ledesma replaces Mario Martín, appointed a few weeks ago as head of Telefónica's office in the United Kingdom.
Telxius, a telecommunications infrastructure company founded in 2016, is owned by Telefónica (70%) and Pontegadea (30%). As a leading connectivity provider, it combines subsea and terrestrial networks with data centers worldwide, delivering network & transport, colocation, and security services. Whitin this broad ecosystem, Telxius manages a network of more than 100,000 km, nine next-generation submarine cables, 26 landing stations.
