June 3 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index opened lower on Wednesday after a flare-up in the Middle East conflict signaled little progress in efforts to end the months-long war.

At 9:30 a.m. ET, the Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX Composite Index was down 0.3% at 35,030.55 points.
