U.S. inspections of grains for export were mixed last week with soybeans up from the prior week with corn and wheat lower, according to the Agriculture Department's latest weekly report.
Corn inspected for export in the week ending Jan. 1 totaled 1.21 million metric tons, down from 1.34 million tons the previous week, but above the 877,214 tons in the year-earlier week, the USDA said Monday.
Soybean inspections were 980,518 tons, compared with 773,600 tons the previous week and 1.3 million tons a year earlier. Wheat inspections fell to 183,305 tons from 318,650 tons the week before and 412,542 tons in the year-earlier week.
China was the biggest buyer of soybeans, and Japan was the leading destination for corn. Mexico and the Philippines were the top buyers of wheat.
