Industrial production in the U.S. climbed 0.4% in December, the Federal Reserve said Friday, ahead of the consensus for a 0.1% increase.
The increase was in-line with a revised 0.4% increase in November.
Production by the manufacturing industry climbed 0.2% in December. Mining production fell by 0.7%, while production by utilities increased by 2.6%.
Industrial capacity utilization was 76.3% in December compared with a consensus for 76.0%. In November, industrial capacity utilization was revised to 76.1%.
