Export inspections of U.S. soybeans rose from both the prior week and year, while inspections of corn shipments turned lower, according to data from the Department of Agriculture.
In its weekly report published Tuesday, the USDA said that soybean export inspections for the week ended Feb. 12 totaled 1.2 million metric tons. That's up from 1.14 million tons last week, and 727,529 tons at this time last year.
The USDA said that corn inspections for the week were 1.49 million tons, down from 1.61 million tons last week and 1.62 million tons at this time last year. Wheat inspections were 375,402 tons for the week, which is lower than this time last week but higher than the same week last year.
China was the leading destination for U.S. soybeans, totaling 684,069 tons for the week. Japan was the top destination for wheat, and Mexico was the leading destination for corn.
CBOT grain futures are mixed in morning trading, with most-active corn futures down 0.9%, soybeans up 0.3%, and wheat down 1.8%.
