The US Department of Justice has dropped its investigation into the company over suspicions of anti-competitive collusion, Symrise announced on Monday. No unlawful conduct was found. The group welcomed the decision and reiterated that it had never participated in any unlawful agreements with competitors in the fragrance business. The company expects that the remaining regulatory authorities will also conclude their proceedings in the near future.
The world's leading fragrance and flavor manufacturers, including Symrise, came under scrutiny from competition authorities in 2023 on suspicion of anti-competitive collusion. In addition to Symrise, Swiss companies Givaudan and Firmenich as well as IFF from the US were affected. Symrise has consistently denied the allegations.
