(Alliance News) : News of a mutual agreement between Iran and the US, leading to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, energized markets on Monday, with exchanges opening higher.

The formal signing of the deal could take place on June 19 in Geneva. According to the American president, the agreement provides for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the lifting of the US naval blockade once the negotiation process is finalized. Iranian sources have also confirmed the shared draft.

Against this backdrop, the MIB rose 0.9% to 51,967.14, the Mid-Cap gained 2.3% to 65,096.71, the Small-Cap climbed 1.5% to 36,737.73, and Italy Growth edged up 0.3% to 9,134.90.

Other European markets also traded in positive territory: the CAC 40 rose 1.4%, the DAX 40 gained 1.7%, and the FTSE 100 was up 0.5%.

On Piazza Affari's blue-chip index, the UniCredit-Commerzbank saga continues to dominate headlines. The Italian lender has rejected accusations from its German counterpart, which claimed last Friday that the Italian group had provided misleading information to the market regarding its offer for the German bank.

Specifically, the bank emphasized that it has "always operated, and will continue to operate, in full compliance with regulations and with total transparency," clarifying that "claims regarding alleged securities lending activities on shares by UniCredit are unfounded."

"In no case has UniCredit aggregated or confused information categories that must be kept distinct under applicable law; such a representation has instead been repeatedly put forward by Commerzbank, apparently with the aim of creating a distortive narrative," UniCredit charged. Its stock recorded a 1.8% gain to €74.57 at the opening.

Buzzi led the basket with a 5.4% gain, followed by Stellantis, up 4.5% at €6.156 per share. Eni started in the red, down 4.4%, alongside Tenaris, which fell 2.3%. Saipem also struggled, dropping 2.0%.

On the Mid-Cap index, Caltagirone rose 6.1% to €10.10 to take the top spot, followed by Cementir Holding, up 5.2% at €16.34.

WIIT trailed the pack, falling 1.7% to €34.85 per share.

Juventus Football Club, trading up 1.8%, announced the appointment of Giovanni Carnevali as the company's new CEO and general manager.

The appointment follows the mutual termination of the employment relationship with Damien Comolli and his subsequent resignation this morning.

Following Comolli's resignation, the company has committed to providing the outgoing executive with a gross amount of €850,000 and "the waiver by Juventus to request the return of the sign-on bonus provided for in the employment letter of June 1, 2025."

On the Small-Cap index, Banca Sistema, flat at €7.34, referenced the mandatory total public tender and exchange offer promoted by Banca CF+ Spa. It announced Friday evening that the acceptance period has concluded, reaching 85.67% of the share capital. To date, over 3.9m shares of Banca Sistema have been tendered, representing approximately 26% of the shares subject to the offer and about 4.9% of Banca Sistema's share capital.

Landi Renzo, which saw no trades, announced it has signed an amendment to the agreement for its Indian joint venture, Krishna Landi Renzo India Private Limited, selling a 16% stake to local partner Shloka Auto Trimes and reducing its own holding to 35%.

Generalfinance, up 1.9% at €10.90, announced that the Trento Court of Appeal has fully upheld the company's appeal against ruling 569/2025 of the Trento Civil Court.

On July 25, 2025, Generalfinance had informed the market that the Trento Civil Court issued a ruling declaring the credit assignments made under the factoring contract between the parties unenforceable against the bankruptcy of Leali Steel Spa, ordering Generalfinance to pay €9.3m plus interest and costs. On July 31, 2025, the company filed its appeal, seeking a full reversal of the first-instance ruling.

On the Italy Growth index, Kruso Kapital : up 1.6% : announced an update to its 2026-2028 industrial plan. The group expects to strengthen its position as a pan-European player in the pawn credit market, aiming to reach €206m in customer loans by the end of 2028, with a 2025-2028 CAGR of 9.9%.

Next Geosolutions, which saw no trades, completed post-lay trenching activities as part of the Bouri Gas Utilisation Project. In the BGUP, as the company explained in a note, operations are carried out in support of installation activities led by Saipem, with contributions from Rana Subsea and collaboration with Pharos Offshore Group, the provider of the specialized trenching technologies used.

Pozzi Milano, up 4.6%, announced that its board of directors has approved the acquisition of 100% of IVV Italia Srl and Forma Italia Srl for a maximum consideration of €9.2m, including a premium.

The shareholders' meeting of Simone, with shares up 0.6%, convened to approve the financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2025, and adopted other significant resolutions. Specifically, the assembly renewed the board of directors for the 2026-2028 three-year period, confirming a five-member body.

In New York on Friday, the Dow closed up 0.7% at 51,202.26, while the Nasdaq finished 0.3% higher at 25,888.84 and the S&P 500 rose 0.5% to 7,431.46.

Among Asian markets, the Hang Seng is currently up 0.5%, the Shanghai Composite gained 1.6%, and the Nikkei closed up 5.3%.

In currency markets, the euro is trading at $1.1606 from $1.1581 on Friday evening, while the pound is at $1.3431 from $1.3417 on Friday evening.

In commodities, Brent crude is trading at $83.11 per barrel from $86.80 on Friday evening, while gold is valued at $4,319.85 per ounce from $4,213.42 at Friday's close.

Monday's macroeconomic calendar features industrial and manufacturing production data from the US at 1515 CEST.

No major corporate announcements are scheduled.
