Shares of power producers rose amid optimism about artificial-intelligence infrastructure demand.

Microsoft unveiled a new initiative called the Community-First AI Infrastructure plan, in which it made a number of promises to help local municipalities deal with the impact of AI data centers.

President Trump and others have warned of the risks that AI demand for electricity will drive up rates for residential users.
