Oil and gas company Vår Energi has confirmed an oil discovery in the appraisal well Zagato North, located approximately ten kilometers north of the Goliat field in the Barents Sea.
The well encountered hydrocarbons in the Realgrunnen and Klappmyss formations, with estimated recoverable resources of up to 3 million barrels of oil equivalent.
Zagato North is part of the Goliat Ridge program, which is expected to conclude by the end of 2025. Vår Energi holds a 65 percent stake in the license, while Equinor owns the remaining 35 percent.
