Vietnam's state-owned telecom operator Mobifone is in talks with Chinese technology companies regarding new contracts to build parts of the country's 5G network, Reuters reports, citing sources.
The plans are moving forward despite warnings from the United States about security risks associated with Chinese equipment from companies such as Huawei and ZTE. According to the sources, Chinese suppliers could play a significant role in the network's expansion, following similar 5G agreements signed last year by Viettel and VNPT with the same firms.
