ZWICKAU (dpa-AFX) - The Volkswagen plant in Zwickau is set to produce slightly more cars this year. By the end of the year, around 212,000 vehicles will have rolled off the assembly line, according to Danny Auerswald, Chairman of the Management Board, who spoke to the German Press Agency. This represents an increase of about 4 percent compared to the previous year. However, the plant's potential capacity exceeds 300,000 vehicles.

Production in Dresden Winding Down

At the Zwickau electric vehicle factory, which currently employs around 8,500 people, six models for Volkswagen, Audi, and Cupra are produced in a two-shift operation. In contrast, vehicle production at the Transparent Factory in Dresden is ending this month. Like the engine plant in Chemnitz, the Dresden facility is also part of Volkswagen Sachsen./hum/DP/men
