ERFURT (dpa-AFX) - The works council at Zalando's Erfurt logistics center, which is currently facing closure, continues to press management for answers to what it considers unresolved questions. Chairman Tony Krause stated following a staff meeting in Erfurt that these clarifications are essential to establish a basis for upcoming negotiations. Key issues include the disclosure of provisions set aside and the site's actual economic viability.
The online fashion retailer employs approximately 2,700 people at the Erfurt logistics hub. According to the DAX-listed group's current plans, the facility is slated for closure in September, a move the employee representatives are actively contesting.
Krause described the atmosphere at the staff meeting as "very good." According to the works council, more than 1,000 employees attended, reflecting a high level of engagement among the workforce.
Prior to the session, the works council stated that the meeting was intended to send a "clear signal in favor of co-determination and against management's current refusal to engage in dialogue."
