Danish biotech Zealand Pharma and Swiss pharmaceutical giant Roche are set to progress their candidate petrelintide into Phase 3 clinical trials for chronic weight management, with a scheduled launch in the second half of 2026, according to a press release.

The decision follows Phase 2 study results which demonstrated double-digit weight loss alongside a tolerability profile comparable to placebo.

Petrelintide, a long-acting amylin analog, is being evaluated as a once-weekly injectable treatment for adults with obesity or overweight individuals with comorbidities.

The objective is to provide a better-tolerated alternative that could enhance long-term patient adherence.
