The Canadian dollar weakened against the greenback on Monday, and the yield on benchmark government debt slipped.
The loonie was trading 0.3% lower at C$1.4044 to the greenback, or 71.2 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.3987 to 1.4089.
Canadian government 10-year bond yields fell 1.4 basis points to 3.072%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt were flat at 4.1936%.
U.S. January crude futures rose 10 cents to settle at $68.1 a barrel on Monday.
