The Canadian dollar weakened against the greenback on Tuesday, and the yield on benchmark government debt climbed. 

The loonie was trading 0.1% lower at C$1.4395 to the greenback, or 69.47 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.4344 to 1.4398.

Canadian government 10-year bond yields rose 2.1 basis points to 3.528%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt fell to 4.7862%.

U.S. February crude futures fell 49 cents to $78.33 a barrel on Tuesday.
