(Alliance News) - The market value of shares in Piazza Affari at the end of 2024 grew by 4 percent year-on-year to EUR836 billion, up 12 percent for Italian listed companies.

As Milano Finanza points out on Friday, traded volumes increased by 17 percent for stocks and 77 percent for Italian government bonds. According to Consob's bulletin, the capitalization-to-GDP ratio rose to 38.1 percent from 37.5 percent in 2023, including data from EGMs and the Vorvel multilateral system.

Trade in supervised equities reached EUR656 billion, up 17 percent, while the value of government bonds jumped to EUR8.007 billion, up 77 percent. Non-government bond trades rose 5 percent and securitized derivatives trades rose 44 percent. Net short positions grew to 1.2% of total capitalization from 0.8% in 2023.

The balance of entries and exits from the main list is negative at 15, with 17 delistings and only two new listings. The number of companies on EGM rose to 209-an increase of seven-to the same number as the main list. As of Dec. 31, 2024, the total number of companies listed or traded on Euronext Milan, EGM and Vorvel fell to 434, of which 419 were Italian, compared to 428 in 2023.
