(Alliance News) - At mid-session Monday, Piazza Affari falls below 33,800, despite purchases on banks, while major European listings remain on the parity threshold.

Thus, the FTSE Mib is in the red 1.3 percent to 33,742.28, the Mid-Cap loses 0.3 percent to 46,705.76, the Small-Cap gives up 0.6 percent to 27,033.63, and Italy Growth is up 0.1 percent to 7,780.05.

In Europe, London's FTSE 100 is in green by 0.2 percent, Paris' CAC 40 is in fractional red, and Frankfurt's DAX 40 gives up 0.1 percent.

On the macroeconomic front, the euro area trade surplus widened to EUR12.5 billion in September from EUR9.8 billion in the same month a year earlier, exceeding market expectations of EUR7.9 billion. The data were published Monday by Eurostat.

Exports rose 0.6 percent to EUR237.8 billion, while imports fell 0.6 percent to EUR225.3 billion.

In addition, the EU recorded a trade surplus of EUR9.6 billion in September, up from EUR7.3 billion in September 2023.

On the highest-capitalization list of Piazza Affari, mid-session buying continued for stocks in the banking sector, with BPER Banca gaining 2.7 percent. In one year, the bank has put in an advance of more than 70 percent.

Banco BPM follows, rising 2.2 percent. Last week the bank had taken a 5.0% stake in Banca Monte dei Paschi, which rises 1.0%.

Rounding out the podium is Banca Popolare di Sondrio, in the green by 1.1%.

Enel is down 1.0% at the turnaround. This morning the energy company announced its strategic plan for the period 2025-2027, which calls for investments of EUR43.00 billion, an increase of EUR7.00 billion from the previous plan.

Ordinary net income is also expected to rise, between EUR7.1 billion and EUR7.5 billion, with an average annual growth of about 11 percent.

In addition, the dividend policy will be revised upward, with a guaranteed minimum of EUR0.46 per share and the possibility of increasing it to 70% of ordinary net income.

Terna - down 0.4% - plans to expand its workforce by hiring 1,400 people by 2028, Corriere della Sera reported Monday.

Ferrari gives up 0.7 percent. LBBW cut the stock's target price to EUR426.00 from EUR433.00 with a 'hold' recommendation.

At the tail end of the list, Interpump Group gives up 1.3 percent.

On the Mid-Cap, Digital Value leads mid-session, up 2.9 percent, after picking up 4.3 percent in Friday's session.

Alerion's board of directors - up 1.7 percent - approved Monday the issuance of a senior unsecured, nonconvertible and unsubordinated bond for a fixed countervalue of EUR200 million with the possibility of increasing by a further maximum of EUR100 million, with a maturity of six years from the date of issue, to be qualified as a Green Bond, intended both for the general public in Italy and for qualified investors in Italy and institutional investors abroad, to be issued in the coming months.

Pharmanutra rises 0.7 percent after reporting Monday that sales results in China of Sucrosomal Iron-based nutritional supplements made on the patented Sucrosomal Technology are steadily growing and have exceeded EUR1 million since the beginning of the year.

GVS plunges, giving up 7.9 percent. The company reported Thursday that it closed the first nine months with revenues of EUR326.8 million, up from EUR317.8 million in the same period last year.

On the Small-Cap, Seri Industrial is flying - up 13 percent at the turnaround. The company announced Monday that its FAAM-branded subsidiary FIB Spa has signed a framework agreement with Power4Future Spa, a Fincantieri Group company - down on the Mid-Cap - for the supply of lithium-ion batteries. The total value of the agreement is EUR100.9 million.

Triboo partially recovers its opening losses and is in the red by 0.7 percent at mid-session. The company reported Friday that it closed the first nine months of the year to September 30 with revenues of EUR48.6 million, down about 16 percent from EUR57.6 million in the same period of 2023.

Among the list's bearish performers, It Way gives up 5.4 percent. On Friday, the company's board approved its interim report on operations as of Sept. 30, recording a pre-tax result that instead fell from a positive EUR639,000 to a liability of EUR392,000, "mainly due to foreign exchange losses realized by the Turkish subsidiary," the company specifies in the released note.

Among SMEs, Renovalo soars 14 percent at mid-day.

4AIM Sicaf gives up 0.2 percent after it reported Friday that it posted a loss of EUR6.5 million as of Sept. 30 from a EUR1.9 million liability in the same period a year earlier.

H-Farm -- still flat at EUR0.14 per share -- reported Friday that its board of directors approved results for the year ended Aug. 31, reporting a loss of EUR7.9 million, from a loss of EUR8.9 million in the previous year.

IDNTT--flat at EUR2.84 per share--announced Monday a joint venture with Maurizio Rossi Production to transform Donnavventura, a historic travel TV format, into a digital media company.

Spindox - in the green by 1.4 percent - reported Friday that it closed the first nine months with a value of production of EUR82.2 million, up 12 percent year-on-year.

Among the bearish Askoll Eva loses 10%. In the past month the stock has given up more than 46%.

In New York on Friday, the Dow closed down 0.7 percent, the Nasdaq finished 2.2 percent in the red, and the S&P 500 gave up 1.3 percent.

Among currencies, the euro changed hands at USD1.0547 from USD1.0547 on Friday in European equities closing. The pound is worth USD1.2624 versus USD1.2638 on Friday evening.

Among commodities, Brent crude is worth USD71.34 per barrel from USD72.12 per barrel Friday night. Gold trades at USD2,586.90 an ounce from USD2,566.90 an ounce Friday night.

On the macroeconomic calendar in the afternoon, an auction of Treasury bonds with three-month and six-month maturities is scheduled from the US at 1730 CET.
