(Alliance News) - On Wednesday, Piazza Affari is set for an upward opening, according to IG Futures, while other major European listings are expected to be below par. In the afternoon, the French parliament will put a vote of no confidence in the Barnier government, which is accused of forcing the approval of a budget not shared within the majority.

Thus, the FTSE Mib is expected to rise 0.1 percent or 38.8 points after closing Tuesday up 1.0 percent to 33,829.34.

London's FTSE 100, on the other hand, is expected down 0.4 percent or 29.6 points, Paris' CAC 40 is expected just below the parity line as is Frankfurt's DAX 40.

"South Korea briefly diverted attention away from the French political chaos after President Yoon imposed martial law yesterday, accusing the opposition party that holds a majority in parliament of crippling his administration, only to revoke it a few hours later. Volatility in Asian markets and cryptocurrencies increased, but the impact remained limited," comments Ipek Ozkardeskaya, Senior Analyst at Swissquote Bank.

"France could return to the fore with parliament poised to vote on a no-confidence motion this afternoon against Barnier's government. One would not say that this risk is affecting the performance of the CAC 40, which closed up 0.3 percent yesterday, and the yield on 10-year French government bonds, which fell to its lowest since this fall. However, the CAC 40 is set to record the largest performance gap in 30 years against the German DAX index. In addition, the spread between French and German 10-year government bonds has risen to the highest levels since the euro debt crisis a decade ago. Nevertheless, the soft reaction to the French political chaos is surprising," the analyst concludes.
