Trump's comments were delivered via video conference to business leaders at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Despite the president's demands, Landsberg expects Fed officials to "sit on their hands" at their two-day policy meeting next week and leave interest rates unchanged, a position he expects them to maintain throughout the year due to ongoing inflationary pressures.

As a result, central bank officials will just have to "deal" with Trump's "rhetoric," Landsberg said.

Speaking with Reuters' Lisa Bernhard, Landsberg also addressed Trump's tough talk on tariffs and his demand that OPEC+ lower oil prices.
