Export sales of U.S. corn reported by the Department of Agriculture exceeded the high end of forecasts of analysts surveyed by The Wall Street Journal this week.
In its latest weekly export sales report published Thursday, the USDA said that corn export sales for the week ended May 8 totaled 2.19 million metric tons across the 2024/25 and 2025/26 marketing years, which is over the high-end of forecasts by surveyed analysts this week.
Wheat sales totaled 804,800 tons across both marketing years, and soybean sales were 772,700 tons - wheat also exceeding analyst forecasts and soybeans landing on the high end of predictions.
South Korea and Mexico were the top buyers of corn for the week, while unknown destinations and the Philippines were the leading wheat buyers and Pakistan and Egypt were the leading buyers of soybeans.
CBOT grain futures are mixed in pre-market trading, with most-active corn up 0.7%, soybeans down 1.4%, and wheat up 1.1%.
