Shares of energy companies rose as a rally in energy commodities was set to continue.
U.S. natural gas futures rose for a third consecutive day as more cold weather forecasts loomed for much of the nation.
Oil futures fell 1.7% to $78.68 a barrel, but remain 10% higher for 2025 so far. British oil major BP will cut 4,700 internal and 3,000 contractor roles across its business as part of cost-cutting measures.
