U.S. Futures Up Slightly, European Stocks Down Slightly

U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.2% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average were flat. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 declined 0.4% in morning trading. Grifols climbed 3.7% and Prysmian rose 3.2%. On the other hand, Indivior slipped 31.2%, and Verallia lost 10%. The FTSE 100 was flat. Other stocks in Europe were down as France's CAC 40 decreased 0.9% and Germany's DAX fell 0.5%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index was flat at 99.92.

In commodities, Brent crude dropped 0.3% to $85.52 a barrel, and WTI crude fell 0.3% to $82.10 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was down 0.1% to EUR32.25 a megawatt hour.

The German 10-year Bund yield rose by 2 basis points to 2.56% from 2.542%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury climbed by 1 basis point to 4.293% from 4.284%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were up as Japan's Nikkei 225 index gained 2%, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 0.1%. China's benchmark Shanghai Composite climbed 1.3%.
