DUBAI, Dec 2 (Reuters) - China still face huge challenges in efforts to control methane emissions, its top climate envoy Xie Zhenhua told the COP28 climate summit in Dubai, stressing China's developing country status.

Xie said China was willing to match other countries' efforts, but was not able to do so yet.

"China is still a developing country. Controlling emissions from methane and non-Co2 greenhouse gases continues to face a series of intense difficulties and challenges," he said.

"China started late, is technologically weak, statistics are unclear and measurements are insufficient." (Reporting by David Stanway, writing by William James)
