Toronto stocks were little changed in midday trading on Tuesday with most sectors in the green led by consumer durables, energy and communications stocks
Those gains were offset by declines in tech and commodities stocks, which weighed on indexes. Canada's S&P/TSX Composite Index remained unchanged at 26375.00 and the blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 edged 0.1% higher to 1574.54.
Shares of ADF Group rose 23% to 8.33 Canadian dollars, equivalent to $6.08, after the Canadian steel engineering and fabrication company said a strong order backlog is expected to see it through the volatility of tariff uncertainty that marked its first fiscal quarter. The company also said the backlog should help drive an uptick in growth in the second half.
Other market movers:
Royal Bank of Canada plans to launch a share-repurchase program to buy back about 2.5% of its issued and outstanding common shares over the course of a year. The stock rose 0.4% to C$175.27.
