Volvo AB said a global shortage of semiconductors will affect its second-quarter production, with ripple effects expected to hit other business areas.

The Swedish auto maker said that it will implement stop days across its truck manufacturing operations due to a shortage of semiconductors, as well as other necessary components is currently "very low."

To mitigate the effects, Volvo said it will implement stop-days across its global truck manufacturing operations in the beginning of the quarter, which are currently estimated to be between two and four weeks in total, depending on the production site.

The company said these disturbances are expected to weigh on earnings and cash flow.
