ABB Ltd. said Thursday that it is appointing Carolina Granat as chief human resources officer and as a member of the executive committee, effective Jan. 1.

Ms. Granat will succeed Sylvia Hill in the role. Ms. Granat currently serves as the Swiss engineering company's global head of people development and previously worked at Swedish industrial-machinery company Sandvik AB and the Boston Consulting Group.
