ABB said it received an order from Skoda Group for the supply of battery systems for electrically-driven railcars in the Czech Republic.

According to a new partnership agreement between the two companies, Switzerland-based technology group ABB will supply traction battery systems for Skoda's new fleet of battery-electric railcars ordered by the Czech national railway operator.

The less-than $20 million order was booked in the fourth quarter of 2024, ABB said.

The initial agreement covers the delivery of 195 battery packs meant for 15 trains, and includes a 15-year service agreement.

This is the Czech engineering company's first order of ABB's traction technology, ABB said.
